A new anniversary of the Aragón Orchestra will be celebrated

The Aragón Orchestra, which has taken the Cuban music to at least 40 countries from Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa will be honored in this city in the occasion of its 75th anniversary.

The city of Cienfuegos, located 250 kilometers  from Havana listen the rhythm of this orchestra founded by the bass player Orestes Aragón on September 30th 1939.  For that same day a concert is scheduled at the Tomás Terry Theater, said Carlos Díaz, director Moré Art Center.

The alternative music returned to Cumanayagua

The 2nd Edition of the Music Festival “Alternative Cumanayagua”, will start today with to wide activity Schedule in order to socialize music rhythms like rock, blues and the under-called “prodigeous decade”. Several bands from Western Cuba have been invited to the town and the municipality of Cumanayagua.  The culture house Habarimao, the Escambray restaurant, the Singing Coffee and the Guamuhaya Square will sees the main venues of this event.

Cienfuegos to host the National Encounter on Chonicles

The directorate of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) has confirmed that Cienfuegos will host the 9th National Encounter on Chronicles from November 20th to 23rd to pay a tribute to the local writer and journalist Miguel Ángel de la Torre, one of the most outstanding authors from Cuba´s early 20th century.

The contest is opened to all the journalists in medias like printed and digital press, radio, television as well as journalism students having published works from September 2013 to October 15th 2014, while the students can present non-published works. The jury will award the works that succeed in describing every topic from the journalist´s bias in each media as well as the best research in every genre.
