In Cienfuegos art also looks at us from above

The different art expressions look at us from above in many occasions, and because of a sense of superiority or that of underestimating the rest of the routines done by humans beings, but because when finding them to more than 300 or 400 meters over the sea level, we notice that from the hights they preserve their essences, and more, they take the mark of the community, many times ignored by the elites.

A heritage network on behalf of the Cuban nation and culture

Dr Eusebio Leal Spengler called to preserve history during a master lecture at the closing session of the meeting of the Historian Office network and the Encounter of Restoration Schools, both moments were the final conclusions of the 6th Workshop on Cuban Heritage Cities carried out in the city of Cienfuegos.  The words of Eusebio Leal were acclaimed by and heterogeneous audience composed by students and intellectuals who were captivated by his speech and his humanitarian, revolutionary thinking following the ideals of José Martí our national hero.

Angel Peña: beyond folklore

It could have been just another performance the one Angel Peña showed at the Yolanda Perdiguer Hall from the Tomás Terry theater, which was devoted to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Cienfuegos´ Folklore Company. The graphic register was enough to make sure the success of this company directed by Bárbara Lamí in order to convey its visual story, but Peñita always comes out with something new to transgress the epidermic, circumstantial. That´s why every exhibition by him - since 30 years ago - grabs the attention of critics and especially, of those beings that are part of the daily landscape like him. His research turns into an anthropological epiphany: a revelation of men in their daily microcosms.
