"Live your Heritage": an invitation to join up

The communication campaign "Live your Heritage" began with a press conference delivered by the members of the Cienfuegos´ Historian Office (OCCC) which main purpose is to bring the local population near the preservation works carried out in the ccity, as well as promoting the knowledge of its heritage values while educating its citizens to learn how to establish a respectful relation with its surroundings.

Cervantes´ coffin has been found

A coffin with the initials M.C corresponding to Miguel de Cervantes containing bones remains inside was found in a crypt at Las Trinitarias, a convent where the remains of this universal writer have been searched, lost inside this institutions four centuries ago. The initials are formed by several half-inch tacks each. The finding of this coffin occurred on Saturday, according to the searching sources, which had previously kept a total silence about this. However, the are signs that this coffin - very rotten by humidity and xylophagous, except at the top where the initials are located - have rusting signs and a greenish tone sheltered the body of the Prince of the Spanish Letters who was buried there on April 23rd 1616.

Important literary pieces to be presented in Cienfuegos city

The winning works from the previous edition of the Casa de las Americas award will be presented on Saturday January 24th at the Dionisio San Román library, in Cienfuegos city while the jury of the current edition deliberates in this Cuban city. The winning books to be presented are: Explicaciones no pedidas by Piedad Bonnett (Colombia, José Lezama Lima Poetry award); Arrecife, by Juan Villoro (Mexico, José María Arguedas Narrative Award); Che Guevara and the economical debate in Cuba, by Luiz Bernardo Pericás (Brazil, Ezequ Martínez Estrada Essay Award); and Cosas Peores, by Margarita García Robayo, (Colombia, Storytelling)
