Concerts  for World Guitar Day in Cienfuegos


Artists from more than 400 cities around the world will add their virtuosity on October 18 to the celebrations for the World Guitar Day, and virtually in Cuba, proposals from Cienfuegos and Havana will greet the day that runs from the 18th to the 20th, through concerts and interviews on various platforms.

According to Ariadna Cuellar Perez, concert guitarist, vice president of UNEAC and organizer of the celebration, the program will be promoted through social networks, Jagua TV Channel Streaming, the Ministry of Culture in the province, Perlavisión and the radio, with actions that include four concerts and a special interview with the guitar master of several generations Rafael Gallardo.

They designed from this city a virtual program dedicated to celebrate the International Guitar Day, where local exponents such as Ariadna Cuellar, the Duo Concuerda will intervene, while Master Rafael Gallardo will talk to the audience, concerts of the Guitar Ensemble Orchestra and students of the instrument of various levels of artistic education will take place.

The exhibition "Destellos de Cubania" opens in Cruces

"Destellos de Cubanía" is the name given to the collective Expo at the Enrique Cantero Ibáñez House of Culture in Cruces, located in the main hall of the institution.

Until October 20, the public will be able to enjoy a rich variety of works made by local artists and amateurs.

The works on display range from colorful weaving, crafts with foamy, plastic, cardboard, rubber and other materials. There is also the technique of modeling with plasticine, wood carving, and the creation of decorative objects with still life.

Meanwhile, the walls of the shop itself, host a handmade collection made with metal cut-outs.

The large hall also hosted the drawings of students from different schools in Santa Cruz. The works made with mixed techniques pay homage to the figures of Martí, Fidel, Camilo and Che.

The initiative is part of the plan of activities organized to celebrate the Cuban Culture Day, an edition dedicated this year 2021 to the 35th anniversary of the Saiz Brothers Association (AHS), the centenary of the birth of Cintio Vitier, an outstanding Cuban poet, narrator, essayist and critic, and the 120th anniversary of the José Martí National Library, founded on October 18, 1901.

The Literacy Campaign is also a reason for commemoration; and it is also essential to dedicate the day to the workers of the Culture sector who supported the tasks of confronting the COVID-19, in the territory and beyond.

Outstanding innovators of the Culture Union honored


The October 8 award ,  is one of the highest  granted by the Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (Anir) in the country, was given to those who work in the Unidad Empresarial de Base (UEB) Propaganda y Eventos, belonging to the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), in the province of Cienfuegos.

In a special morning and as part of the national day of homage to those who make so many contributions to maintain production and services, Yanisleidy Estévez Rodríguez, general secretary of the Bureau of the Union of Cultural Workers (SNTC) in this territory, delivered the corresponding certificate to those who administratively and syndically direct the outstanding entity.

Armando Rodríguez, president of the Committee of Innovators and Rationalizers (CIR), said that the solutions have made it possible to maintain the work in an interrupted manner and an example of this has been the recovery of sound equipment.

The general secretary of the SNTC Provincial Bureau, for her part, pointed out that there is still much to be done to improve the functioning of the Association that groups these constant creators and praised the results of the best collective of its kind belonging to that union.
