During the next International Book Fair, the local writer Atilio Caballero will share fragments of the text Rosso Lombardo (Award Alejo Carpentier) with the readers in several provinces.

 “I have to initially read 42 novels, along with other two members of the jury of the Alba Award in the narrative category. This will be carried out in Havana, during the book fair, from February 13th to 23rd. The finalist work will be announced during the last day of this event, in which I will also present the texts Rosso Lombardo and Díptico. Then I will visit the provinces of Pinar del Río, Cienfuegos and Camaguey. This journey to several provinces is linked to the presentation of the Alejo Carpentier award, the category of story”, informed Atilio Caballero.   

The author of the recent title Díptico, published by Reina del Mar Editores, will also visit the International Book Fair of Bogotá, in April. Sixteen texts published in the genres of poetry, theater, essays as well as his personal realization as a translator and artistic director stimulated in the year 2013 the presentation of the Distinction “Por la Cultura Nacional” to this well known author.

“The most rewarding thing concerniing the distinction is that it gives value to a volume of books, the theater advising offere to several theater groups and my work as a professor, although I do not work as a professor as such. There is no doubt that my career has been recognized and my work as a creator is very rewarding”, said Caballero. Along with his career as a writer A. Caballero is the irector of Teatro de La Fortaleza, a company that will participate at the Santander international Theater Festival in Colombia. The group will compete with the pieces: Marca de agua, El tigre del camino, Alegría de los peces, and Mal con X. Atilio, graduate from Theater and Drama studies, he has contributed a lot to the local and national culture with wide work with more than two decades.
