From January 19th to 25th, in its 24th edition the jury of the Casa de las Américas award will session at the Jagua Hotel and will visit interesting places in Cienfuegos, according to the information released by the communication specialists from this institution.  The local stay includes a visit to the old quarter, - declared world heritage in 2005 - on Tuesday 20th during the afternoon. Two days after that the guests will have exchanges with students and professors at the local universities, the Benny Moré art school, the School of Hotel Industry and Tourism as well as with doctors at the Gustavo Aldereguía Lima hospital.

 The presentation of the winning books from the previous edition will be carried out on Saturday 24th at the Dionisio San Román library. During the same day, at night, the jury will attend to a performance presenting the play "El irrespetable paseo de Buster Keaton" by the theater group "Teatro de las Estaciones", at the Tomás Terry theater.

Leanet Hernández, from the Casa de las Américas´ Promotion Department, said that in the current edition compete 652 works from 24 countries. The most represented country is Argentina and poetry is the most represented genre.
