A heritage network on behalf of the Cuban nation and culture
Dr Eusebio Leal Spengler called to preserve history during a master lecture at the closing session of the meeting of the Historian Office network and the Encounter of Restoration Schools, both moments were the final conclusions of the 6th Workshop on Cuban Heritage Cities carried out in the city of Cienfuegos. The words of Eusebio Leal were acclaimed by and heterogeneous audience composed by students and intellectuals who were captivated by his speech and his humanitarian, revolutionary thinking following the ideals of José Martí our national hero.
This network was created by an agreement by the Council of State back to 2013 and was immediately composed by the offices of Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey, Trinidad and Cienfuegos. This network should widen including other important heritage cities like Baracoa, Remedios, Sancti Spíritus and Bayamo, as well as others like Matanzas or Gibara or others that due to their heritage values could be incorporated to this network as well.
This idea was present by architect Patricia Rodríguez, director of Havana´s Master Plan. She also added to the press that in this meeting there was an agreement to found the remaining offices. In the same way, the participants mediated for the creation of a software link among such institutions, a common web page and the profiteering of a high quality tourist product through the San Cristobal agency which belongs to Habaguanex turning into the development of the communities.
The joint work by all the Cuban Historian Offices will produce extraordinary results for the nation and our culture because the accumulated wisdom of every institution will be put to serve a common interest, he said.
