A new mural by Guayasamín has been placed in the middle of the world

El Guitarrista, a mural by Oswaldo Guayasamín (1919-1999) is decorating the external side of the pavilion devoted to such important Ecuadorian painter to the outskirts of the Half-of-the-World city.  The sample was managed by Pichincha´s prefect, Gustavo Baroja and Pablo Guayasamín,son of the artist and president of the namesake foundation.

Along with the mural, the exhibition hall devoted to the painter of Latin American was reopened again - this title was given to him in 1999 during the a Ibero American summit in Havana. We believe this is a goo way to get close to the audience that come here, to the middle of the world so that they know about this Foundation, the Museum-House and the Chapel of Man (Quito), Pablo said to Prensa Latina.

This small space devoted to Guayasamín has been located just a few steps from the line that marks the imaginary equinoctial line dividing the planet into two hemispheres and to which every day come thousands of tourists. The hall offers a complete views of the Teacher´s creation - as called by his son as a sign of respect and admiration because it includes a sample of series like Huacayñan, La Edad de la Ira, and La Ternura, the three stages in which the work of this Ecuadorian artist is divided.

A bronze sculpture of the Inca warrior Rumiñahui is also exhibited, as well as several portraits, still-lifes and landscape paintings that show Guayasamín´s diverse and creative work. The work of this Ecuadorian painter will be shown at UNASUR´s headquarters on next December 5th just in the middle of the world.  According to Pablo Guayasamín, the Foundation borrowed two great collections (Ecuador´s History, 1941) and Manos (Hands) - painted from 1968 to 1972) - to be exhibited at the regional block´s (composed by 12 countries) building session hall.
