Cienfuegos city to host workshop on Cuban world heritage cities

A master lecture by Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler and the presentation of the campaign to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the foundation of the village of Fernandina de Jagua are included among the proposals of the 6th Workshop on Cuban Heritage Cities to be hosted by Cienfuegos city from November 30th to December 4th.

 The lecture by Leal Spengler has been conceived to be carried out on December 3rd as part of the encounter of the directors of the Cuban Historian Offices who will debate on heritage management - the main topic to be discussed on the event to be celebrated in the Pearl of the South - with other specialists from the rest of the country.

Live your heritage is the title of the campaign to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the southern city, which will promote on the first session day. There will be also a special speech by Irán Millán Cuétara, Director of the City´s Historian Office of Cienfuegos. The workshop will also include the exhibition of a multimedia called Cementerio Tomás Acea: National Monument, by Hilda María Mola Trujillo and Iliana Barreto Ferrer and a lecture on neoclassical style in Cienfuegos.

At the same time there will be an encounter among students and teachers from the Trade Schools which are places where the specialists in restoration are trained. For Cuban cities are included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO: Old Havana and its fortifications; Trinidad and The Valley of the Sugar Mills and the cities of Cienfuegos and Camagüey.
