More than 4,000 works by Cuban children, youth and adults expressed their love for Fidel

Summoned by the National Council of Culture Houses (CNCC) hundreds of children, young people and adults expressed their love and admiration for the figure of our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, on the fifth anniversary of his death. They did so through their participation in the National Visual Arts Contest Fidel in my heart 2021, to which more than 4,000 works were submitted representing the whole country.

This second edition, which was also held virtually because of the pandemic, had a large turnout, Agustin Adrian Perez Gonzalez, vice president of the CNCC, told Granma, who also explained that 721 works -of the total number submitted- were exhibited at the provincial level. Of these, 129 competed at the national level.

The jury, commented the director, chaired by Igor Perez and integrated by Arturo Blas Fariñas de Dios and Roberto Frómeta Pérez, CNCC Visual Arts methodologists, highlighted the virtuosity and respect shown by the participants, which was demonstrated in the creativity, imagination and fantasy present in the works, together with the use and mastery of the various techniques and themes presented, which shows once again the potential that amateur artists have achieved in the development of the visual arts.

The provinces that stood out the most were Holguin, Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara, Mayabeque, Havana, Artemisa and Pinar del Rio.

In this second edition of the National Visual Arts Contest Fidel in my heart the winners were: in First Level, Liswandy de la Caridad Soto Hurruitier, 10 years old, from Quemado de Güines, Villa Clara; in Second Level, Sailet Corn Duardo, 9 years old, from Trinidad, Sancti Spíritus and in Third Level, Alain Alfonso Machado, 12 years old, from Santa Clara. Among Adults and Seniors, the prize went to Daviel Galán, C-C Mirta Aguirre from Bauta, Artemisa, while in Special Education the winner was the Cuenta Conmigo Project, from Playa, Havana. The jury also awarded 15 mentions.

Perez Gonzalez explained to our organ that the recognized works can be seen on the CNCC website.
