October summarizes the happy coincidence of being the month of the year in which the Cienfuegos´ Folklore Company, the Guiñol thater and the theater puppet group Retablos celebrate their anniversaries. On October 18th 1962, Manolo Avila, inspired by the puppet mark of the brothers Camejo and Pepe Carril created the Cienfuegos´ Guiñol theater. It was the first professional theater group to founded in the city after the triumph of the Revolution.  

 At the moment, it is lead by Daymani Blanco and to celebrate its 52nd anniversary the group will premiere the work Pelusín and the Donkey on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19, at 11:00am at the Guanaroca movie theater. The play is based upon the original text by the Cuban writer Dora Alonso, National Literature Award and it is a version by Freddy Artiles. 

Bárbara Lamí created the Cienfuegos´ Folklore Company in order to preserve the local dance traditions related to the Afro Cuban heritage. Fifteen years ago, on October 19th she created the company with graduates from the Provincial Art School of Villa Clara.  Songs and Dances of Cuba is the show to celebrate their anniversary on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th at 9:00am and on Sunday 19th at 5.00pm at the Tomás Terry theater. This is a unique opportunity to appreciate a company in the climax of its career. 

On October 31st 1999, Panait Villalvilla founded the theater group Retablos and it was soon very known in Cuba and abroad.  Later Christian Medina Negrín took the lead as general director and without putting aside the group´s origins he added a new spirit and creative talent which makes real what seems to be unreachable.

At the theater hall Sala a Cuestas, the audience will be able to enjoy a sample of their repertoire, including works like: Who is affraid of the wind? on Friday 17th at 3.00pm and on SAturday 18th and Sunday 19th at 10.00n the Room To Hills the spectators will enjoy a sample of their repertoire, the works Who is Scared to him to the Wind? Friday 17, to the 3:00 of afternoon; and 18 Saturday and Sunday 19, to 10:00am. On days 24th, 25th and 26th the audience will be aslo able to enjoy the work The nightingale at the usual time. 

The Season to celebrate the anniversary of Retablos will end with the production of The Son of the Wind, one of their latest productions. The play will be opened on Thursday 30th and Friday 31st at 2.30pm and on Saturday November 1st and Sunday 2nd at 11.00am at the Guanaroca movie theater.
