Office of Monuments and Historic Sites prepares activities for International Museum Day and to remember Martí's fall

During the anniversary of José Martí's fall in combat and the International Museum Day, the Office of Monuments and Historic Sites will develop a wide program of activities to socialize part of the history of Cienfuegos.

Clara Soto Bermudez, director of the Office of Monuments and Historic Sites explains that "on the 12th begins the virtual day that will last until the 19th, where the busts of José Martí of all municipalities will be socialized. The name of the initiative is: "De todas partes Martí " (Everywhere Martí), taking as reference a verse of his. The objective is that the busts of our National Hero are inserted in the social networks for their knowledge, both by Internet users and lovers of this type of commemorative construction".

The day will culminate on May 19 with a semi-presential act in the sculptural ensemble of Marti Park, which will make a call for attention to raise awareness about the care of heritage. Soto Bermúdez added that "we are seeking to raise awareness so that people not only visit the monuments, but also have within their will the protection of history".

The presence of José Martí in busts and monuments is part of the material expression of the historical memory that needs to be preserved.
