March of lamps and clocks for handicrafts in Cienfuegos
With lamps and clocks, the second edition of the "Provincial Hall Light in Time" will focus the activities of the Cuban Association of Artisans Artists (ACAA) in Cienfuegos in March, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of this institution in Cuba and the 30th of its presence in the Pearl of the South.
Maribel Sardiñas Rey, specialist of the Cienfuegos branch, said that "it is always a rich and striking space that brings together a group of very interesting pieces. They are working lamps and clocks, but conceived in an artistic handcrafted format and of different sizes, from ten centimeters to 1.5 meters high".
The works will be exhibited to the public at the Juan Miguel Perez Carvajal Gallery of the Palace of Crafts, located on San Fernando Boulevard, in the city of Cienfuegos.
According to Sardiñas Rey, "the exhibition will showcase the artistic, handicraft and utilitarian development achieved also in the creation of candle holders, candelabras and supports for clocks, with the aim of reflecting our ability to design useful objects that contribute to the ambience of different venues".
Although the complex epidemiological scenario of Covid-19 has limited the call for the event with respect to the first edition, ACAA officials in Cienfuegos assured that the reception has been good by amateurs and professional artisans who usually participate.
For the rest of the year, the cultural institution has planned a wide program of activities for its anniversaries, including the 40th and 30th Anniversary Salon of Crafts, scheduled for April.
