4-15-1881: Clotilde del Carmen Rodríguez y López (La hija del Damují) dies.

She was born in Cienfuegos on June 3, 1829. She was the first teacher who taught primary education to the children of Cienfuegos. She is the first poet born in the Fernandina de Jagua colony. She never wanted to publish her verses, but a disciple printed against her will a volume of her poetic productions titled Efusiones del Alma (1964). She wrote innumerable poems, a drama and several comedies. Creator of the Cienfuegos flag that she embroidered for General Germán Barrios to carry as a banner to the patriots who marched to the field of the revolution. The Daughter of Damují, as she was called, died in her hometown, on a date like this.
