Pico San Juan, the highest point in Central Cuba
The Guamuhaya mountainous area corresponding to Cienfuegos holds Central Cuba´s highest point: Pico San Juan, 1150 meters over the sea level.

Cienfuegos was one of the first lands to be visited by the Spanish priest Bartolomé de las Casas back to the 16th century, especially the place where the city was later founded: the Jagua region, which is currently the province of Cienfuegos.
