Palace of Ferrer: A mansion for arts

From Cienfuegos´ highest lookout, a young tourist contemplates the city. First the streetlamps, then the Cathedral, the streets and nearby avenues; and then, several roofs and buildings that, little by little, recede into the distance. Her boyfriend takes some pictures. Both are Catalan and enjoy the experience of visiting Ferrer's Palace, reopened after being closed for several years.

Gonzalo Bermúdez: It is worth to continue educating Ismaelillo's generations

“I feel very happy, very rewarded when seeing musicians that integrated my group and now they are well-known artists in different places”, said Gonzalo Bermúdez Toledo when remembering Ismaelillo, after 35 years of being founded in 1980, in this city from south central Cuba. This band inspired “La semilla escondida” (the hidden seed) a series with high levels of audience which was stared by its musicians and director.

Craftsmen, among felt and expressed needs

The rough way to get access to raw materials to make their works an the quality of the resulting work where the major thees at the Balance Assembly by the Cuban Association of Artisan Artists (ACAA) in Cienfuegos, corresponding to years 2011-2015. "There is no way for us to buy wood (…) As time passes we are fewer, we were 32 and now we are just 8. They have had to go to other art expression and (…) once you quit it is very difficult to return", said Ibrahim Ocampo Almeida - who works in carving - to those who attended included Rubén del Valle, president of the National Council of Plastic Arts and Dámaso Crespo, national president of the organization which local members were present.
