The world´s oldest flute player lived in Cienfuegos city

Efraín Loyola lived in Cienfuegos city. He was performing until he turned 90, so he is considered to be the oldest flute player in the world. He was a composer, orchestra director, player, professor and founder of the Loyola orchestra. He died on April 2nd 2011.

Vertical niches at the Reina cemetery

The Reina cemetery (Cienfuegos, 1839), is the only Cuban cemetery which still preserves the burial system that used vertical niches, which is similar to that of the ancient Espada cemetery in Havana.

Cienfuegos´ Botanical Garden Collections

One of the America´s most important palm collection is located at Cienfuegos´ Botanical Garden, which included more than 280 plants. Other important collection include bamboos (23) and Ficus citrifolia (65).
