The Tomas Terry Theater, a National Monument, with the collaboration of Casa de las Americas and the sponsorship of the Provincial and National Council of the Performing Arts of Cuba, summons national and Latin American theater groups to the V Festival of the Latin American Monologue and the Terry Award to be held in the city of Cienfuegos, Cuba, from February 10 to 14, 2021 in commemoration of the 130th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Tomas Terry Theater.
The festival is composed of one-man shows of theater, puppets and street theater. During the days of the event, lectures and workshops are also held for people from the performing arts and public in general. On the last day of the Festival, the Terry Awards for Women's and Men's Acting, Staging, and Drama will be given for a Latin American Play.
REGULATIONS (Terms and Conditions)
DATE OF PERFORMANCE: February 10 to 14, 2021
a) The artists or groups that wish to compete will do so through performances. Up to two shows per actor, director and playwright will be accepted.
b) Artists or groups may register for a show, lecture, course, or workshop.
c) Joint proposals may be included (in addition to the show in competition, theoretical and/or practical workshops, forums and conferences may be presented). As well as activities that make the Festival a space for the exchange of practices and knowledge.
d) Once selected, the limit of members for the participating casts will be two people per show.
To register it is required to send:
a) The author's curriculum.
b) The professional curriculum of the actor.
c) The curriculum and Work Dossier of the Director.
d) Presentation of the full original text of the monologue and the text of the version presented, if applicable.
e) Link of the multimedia with the audiovisual material of the staging in case of irregularities with the postal sending.
f) Contact information of the group or representative.

Registration deadline: October 15, 2020
a) From the works registered, the Selection Committee made up of local and national artists and specialists will select the shows that will make up the festival's exhibition. The decision will be unique and unquestionable.
b) The Selection Committee will announce the results during the first week of November 2020.
c) The selected participants must confirm their participation within 7 days of receiving the notice, with a photocopy of the reservation or flight ticket; otherwise, they will be excluded from the Festival.
a) The direction, performance, and dramaturgy of the works submitted to the competition must be carried out by Latin American artists regardless of their place of residence.
b) The works must have a duration of 40 and 60 minutes.
c) The Tomás Terry Theater and the Provincial Council of Performing Arts of Cienfuegos will guarantee the technical services of the shows with the existing technical conditions in each of the rooms. In case the stagings require extra or specific equipment, this must be guaranteed by the contestant.
d) The performances will be presented in the following halls: Sala Ateneo Armando Suárez del Villar of the Tomás Terry Theatre; Sala Aida Conde, headquarters of the Centro Dramático de Cienfuegos group; Sala A Cuestas, headquarters of the Velas Teatro group; Sala Guanaroca, headquarters of the Guiñol Cienfuegos group and Sala Guiñol, headquarters of the Caña Brava group.
e) The Organizing Committee and the Consejo Provincial de las Artes Escénicas de Cienfuegos will establish a parallel program to the Festival in different spaces of the province which will be of strict fulfillment for the permanence in the competition.
a) The transfer of the participants, both foreigners, and Cubans, from the Havana city, will be on February 10th at 1:00 p.m. to Cienfuegos and the return at the end of the event will be on February 15th at 11:00 a.m. on behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Latin American Monologue Festival.
Outside the dates indicated, the transfer will be made by the participants
b) National participants from other provinces will only be processed for their return, it is their responsibility for the arrival and departure of the Festival.
c) The Festival of the Latin American Monologue guarantees the transfer of the participants only to those activities programmed for the event.
d) No other transportation costs will be covered.
The accreditation fee per person of 100.00 CUC, for foreign participants and 500.00 CUP, for national participants, is included:
a) The accreditation to the Festival for the entrance to the shows in competition, the participation of all the collateral activities (forums, conferences, book and magazine presentations, etc.), as well as courtesy activities (welcome cocktail, closing activity, and Café Teatro program, etc.).
b) Transportation Havana-Cienfuegos-Havana, as well as the internal transfer foreseen to complete the program of activities during the Festival (including the day of the rehearsal and the performance, the promotional and public relations activities and the functions of the halls)
c) Failure to pay the accreditation fee will invalidate the participation in the Latin American Monologue Festival.
d) In the case of registration for the workshops, the registration fee will be charged, according to the proposal and duration, by paying a cash fee that will be informed to the participants in advance. At the end of the workshop, an accreditation certificate will be issued with the identity of the Festival and the Workshop Professor.
FOOD AND LODGING.
a) Accommodation and food during the festival will correspond to economic and other offers made by PARADISO Agency, and the selected contestants will receive them with their amount.
The prizes will be unique and not shared.
a) The following prizes will be awarded:
- Female Performance Award and Latin American Terry Award.
- Male Performance Award and Latin American Terry Award.
- Best Acting Award and Latin American Terry Award.
- Dramatic Award for a Latin American dramatized text.
b) All awards will consist of a trophy, diploma and a work of art by a Cuban artist, as well as souvenirs and handicrafts from the country, and the Best Staging Award and Latin American Terry Award will be an official guest at the next Festival with the expenses of the event paid.
c) The Latin American Monologue Festival will deliver certificates, posters, and programs to all participants attending the event.
d) The Festival does not assume any commitment of economic retribution of any kind to the casts chosen to integrate the event's programming.
